ABOUT MEYER

It was back in the roaring twenties...when people were dancing the Charleston and the country was in the throes of prohibition that the technique of blowing loose fill insulation appeared in the construction industry. Having just graduated from Purdue University's School of Mechanical Engineering in the class of '23, Bill Meyer went to work for Roots-Connersville Blower Company of Connersville, Indiana. Operating out of their Chicago office, one of Bill's jobs was servicing Roots-Connersville air pumps. Many of these pumps were used on the first insulating machines made by the Johns-Manville Company. In 1933, armed with several years experience, considerable foresight and the proverbial shoestring budget, Bill Meyer set out on his own. He named his new venture "General Blower Company" and opened the doors for business on the same day the nation's banks were closed. His new venture, General Blower Company, began manufacturing centrifugal fans for industrial ventilation, pneumatic conveying, dust collection and gas boosting.

Undaunted, Bill Meyer managed to weather the depression years. Believing wholeheartedly in building quality equipment and providing unquestioned service, the company flourished and grew. With growth, a second company called Wm. W. Meyer & Sons was formed in 1946. As an innovator and pioneer in the manufacture of insulating blowing machines and vacuum collection equipment, the name MEYER became synonymous with the finest contractor equipment available.

Today, Wm. W. Meyer & Sons, Inc. is a world leader in the manufacture of insulation blowing machines and vacuum collection systems.
